The Begining!!

The Begining!!!!!

We found out on September 25, 2009 that we were going to have a baby born with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. We were very scared and nervous and wasn't quiet sure what to expect. We were told that the baby would have to be born at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. On October 1st we had an appointment at UVA for a ultrasound. We were very scared and not sure what the doctors would tell us. The doctors informed us that the baby was going to be born with a hole in his diaphragm. The hole would allow his stomach and intestines to come up threw the hole and push on the baby's lungs. The baby's lungs would not be able to develop as well a a normal baby's would. The baby would have to have a tube down its throat to help the baby breathe. They would do surgery on the baby 3 to 10 days after it is born to fix the hole and put everything back were its suppose to be. The doctors gave us all the facts and told us that there is no guarantee. We knew that it was going to be a very long and rough road ahead but we were going to stay positive and have faith. We received a lot of information that scared us and made us very nervous but we also were informed that we were going to have a baby BOY! We are going to have a son and he is going to be an amazing young man! We chose to name him Nathaniel because it meant "Given by God" and we knew that he is our gift and we were blessed. We have had many doctors appointments since then and many ultrasounds and he is growing and doing as well as can be expected. They are going to induce me on February 4. Nate will have to remain in the NICU until he will be able to breathe on his own. We have faith that God will take good care of him and he is going to be okay. Nate is making his mark early in life so God must have a special purpose in mind for him.

Almost there!

Well only 4 more days and I will be getting ready to add an addition to our family! I am very nervous and anxious but excited! I don't think I've ever had so many emotions at one time. Life is definitely going to be different. Nate doesn't stop moving he pushes his limbs up and I can feel what I assume is arms and legs its really amazing. I have a doctors appointment and a ultrasound tomorrow. I'm very curious to see how much they think he is going to weigh and see his fat cheeks. Looking at the ultrasound pictures he looks a lot like Riley did as a baby. I can't wait to see who he looks like but I sure he won't look like me. I do all the work and they come out looking like Phil ha ha. Riley looks so much like her daddy. I've noticed it a lot since I see Rye all day and then Phil comes and they are together and its like "Man where am I at in that child?" She is her daddy's girl! And Nate will be his mommy's boy!

What Next??? Riley Blog

Well this has been a very stressful week. My poor Riley girl is so sick she has had diarrhea since Sunday and the poor baby can't keep anything down. This morning she woke up and was throwing up I took her to the Urgent Care here is C-ville and they are going do lab on her stool. She eats just a pretzel and has to go to the bathroom. I had to put a pull up on her because she can't even make it to the bathroom. It is worrying me to death I need at least one of my kids to be healthy. Riley is such a good sport though she keeps telling me "I'm sorry I have diarrhea mommy." It breaks my heart. So please keep my Rye in your prayers and hopefully she will be able to eat something and not lose it. Nate is moving like crazy like always and I have contractions and they are a little more intense than they use to be so who knows when the little booger will come. My Grandma tells me its a full moon this weekend so I'm keeping my legs crossed.
